Rana involved in all the diving activities for the TAP Project offshore Italy and Albania

Connecting with the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) at the Greek-Turkish border, TAP will cross Northern Greece, Albania and the Adriatic Sea before coming ashore in Southern Italy to connect to the Italian natural gas network. The project is currently in its construction phase, which started in 2016. Once built, TAP will offer a direct and cost-effective transportation route opening up the vital Southern Gas Corridor, a 3500-kilometre long gas value chain stretching from the Caspian Sea to Europe. Our first involvement in TAP Project was in December 2018 on the Italian shore approach for Jan De Nul. Our ROV team with the ROV Tomahawk assisted Jan De Nul during the works at the micro tunnel exit area for the installation by ROV of mattresses, rock bags and geotextile.

Then, in March-April 2019, we provided our air diving services to Saipem during the pipelay and shore pull activities offshore Albania. Our diving team was located onshore at Fier and carried out the activities from our daughtercraft Eagle 1 in assistance to Saipem’s laybarge Castoro 10 activities.

In September 2019, we went back to Albania for Elettra, who were involved in the project for the fibre optic cable supply. We provided air diving services for the cable laying.

In November 2019, we provided again our services to Jan De Nul on the Italian shore approach. This time, our divers were busy in removing the surcharge installation at the end of cofferdam.

In January 2020, we recovered with Jan De Nul the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) at the exit of the microtunnel (27 mwd) on the Italian side. The lifting was carried out by closed buoyancy modules.

In April 2020, at the Albanian landfall we assisted Saipem's PLB Castoro Sei during the above water tie-in operations. The diving operations were carried out with surface supplied mixed gas (nitrox) from the OSV Aline B and in air diving from our dive craft Eagle One.
